Preparing Yourself And Surroundings For Childbirth

Childbirth causes fear for many – especially first-time moms. Even with all the technological knowledge on childbirth and child rearing, it is difficult to know exactly what to do. No doubt every mother-to-be has read numerous books and had loads of advice given to her. Fortunately, childbirth isn’t as complicated as it sounds.

Childbirth is simply the most joyous and beautiful moment a woman will ever experience. It is a wondrous event that should be cherished and remembered. When your precious newborn arrives, you will gaze into those small eyes with a love you have never felt before. You will see a new beginning for your life and family.

To prepare for this new beginning in your life, make a mental checklist. Is the room ready? Are the clothes bought, washed, and in the dresser? Are all those toys put up? Your due date is getting closer, and your back is starting to hurt more and more. The baby may start to kick more, then slow down a little. You are on the final countdown!

Now comes the waiting. As the waiting grows longer, your fear of childbirth may grow more intense. However, there are several ways to prepare. Spend some time making sure the hospital bag is packed at least a month before your due date. (Include basic necessities for you, as well.) Don’t forget some simple luxuries. Here are six luxurious items to help make your childbirth more enlightening and delightful:

•Make sure you pack a comfortable night gown to ensue optimum freedom for you to move and get comfortable during your labor.
•Soothing music will take your focus away from the pain.
•Massage oil is a wonderful tool to allow your partner to help in alleviating the pain of labors.
•A good book to read between the contractions will help you focus less on the birthing process.
•Snacks are good to help you and your partner get through the longs hours of labor. Make sure your doctor is okay with this idea, first.
•Champagne. What better way to celebrate your new bundle of joy than lots of bubbly!

A few necessities and a few luxury items will help create a more soothing atmosphere for your labor and delivery. This is an exciting time, and it should be one filled with rest, comfort, and joy.

“Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of our greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t only give your care, but give your heart as well.” This is wonderfully powerful advice from Mother Teresa and is relevant for every newborn.
