Customer Rating: Summary: Love this book, a must for all new nursing moms! Comment: If you're going to use any book as a reference for breast feeding, this one should be it. It is really great and very informative. I even liked this book better than the one published by the Le Leche League and better than the info in the What to Expect When You're Expecting.
This book is user friendly, spoken in plain language, not overwhelming or intimidating for the reader. Helps to make breastfeeding so much easier and less stressful.

Customer Rating: Summary: The most helpful book I own Comment: I bought several books about breastfeeding prior to my daughter's birth. I read them all, and paid little attention to this book, since it didn't offer "simple solutions" and "foolproof plans." After my baby was born, I found that learning to breastfeed was neither simple nor foolproof. For me and my baby, it was frustrating and sometimes difficult.
This book accepted having a difficult start as a reality, and addressed all of the roadblocks that we encountered with our first weeks of breastfeeding. Every night, I would turn to this book, reading the survival guide section over and over again. Even though I was determined to continue breastfeeding, I sincerely appreciated that at the end of many chapters, the author encourages readers to give breastfeeding their best shot, and acknowledges that if it just doesn't work, you are still a good mother.
Now, after 10 weeks, I can say that my daughter and I are in what the author calls the "reward period," where we both know what we are doing, and our time together breastfeeding is a special and happy time. I attribute my success in breastfeeding entirely to a good lactation consultant and this book (with no thanks to the other books I read.)
Customer Rating: Summary: Valuable book for Breastfeeding Moms! Comment: I found this book to be very useful. The appendix of drugs that are safe to take while breastfeeding is invaluable when you are sick, but scared to take anything for fear of hurting your baby. This book has informative sections on latching baby on, solutions to common problems such as sore nipples, as well as information on newborn jaundice. I would recommend this book for any breastfeeding or pregnant mom!
Customer Rating: Summary: The only guide that you need and will grow with your baby's needs Comment: I am a first time mother and the only woman in my circle of family and friends to ever considering breastfeeding. While expecting I read this book cover-to-cover. I knew what problems to expect and was able the head them off at the pass. I can happily report that thanks to this book alone I have been nursing my baby gril for 8 months without a hitch. Whenever I might see a problem coming this book had prepared me for it and taught me how to avoid it. Breastfeeding is the most amazing thing I have done in my life and this book alone is the help that I needed. (Even tonight I turned to read about sleeping issues at the 8-month stage...I felt reassured.) The Mayo Clinic and Sears Baby Book are the only three references I use.
